Storyboard

I love storyboards and felt like the M&N session was just screaming for one.  I found some free templates online and read a tutorial on how to insert pictures using Photoshop  (CS5).  Here's my first attempt:

M&N

My wise mother-in-law often says that, "Every plan is the basis for change", and that is exactly what happened this past weekend.  I'm not normally a change of plans kind of girl, but when I got a call from my friend Saturday morning suggesting that we change locations to her backyard & neighborhood, I couldn't have been more excited.  I'm always looking for new locations and was so excited with what we found!  M&N are such sweet kids and they really got into the session.  I had so much fun with them and I think it shows in the photos.

On a more educational note, the lure of the swing won out over my fear and inexperience with backlighting.  The sun was harsh over there and the only way to use that location was to place the kids where the light would be behind them.  I'm so grateful for the opportunity to try and learn something new, rather than just playing it safe!

The H Sisters

I recently took the H sisters to a new location and loved capturing the first signs of fall.  The light seemed to change dramatically every two feet, so I definitely got a lesson in the many ways in which it can present itself!  By the way, how CUTE are these girls?!

The S siblings

You may remember sweet "Baby I" from my first newborn session.  Believe it or not, she is now 8 weeks old and her Mommy asked me to replicate an image that she has of both of her other kids at this age.  "L" and "V" both have black & white 3/4 profile portraits and they need one more to complete the set.

These kids are so adorable and are natural models.  They adored the camera and let me practice for such a long time.  It was so much fun and I was so happy to get a few other shots that I thought my friend would enjoy.

I haven't done many black & white conversions (a lot more to it than you'd think), so this is the first time I've really dived into it for a session.  I'm also used to shooting outdoors, so this was my second time creating a studio set up inside a home.  Needless to say, this session was quite educational!
